Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania

I had a beautiful day in Longwood Gardens. The morning was chilly, but sunny, and the earliest Spring flowers are blooming. We are still some weeks away from tulips and roses and many of the most popular blooms, but forsythias, magnolias, and some wildflowers are blossoming.

Magnolia trees are beginning to bloom.

Although manicured gardens of multicolored flowers are beautiful, I always still love a walk in the woods. Pierre duPont originally purchased this property to save the woods from the sawmill, perhaps these beautiful Hickory trees.

A real tree house! The tree house doesn't rely on the actual trees for support, therefore protecting them from any accidental damage.

A carpet of purple blue flowers

Inside the conservatory...

Pretty pink bells

Something for everyone. This fountain was in the children's garden.

Striking colors

Longwood Gardens has a beautiful display of orchids.

Creamy white orchid

Beautiful blooms

Blue poppies

Strikingly colored hibiscus

This is a banana flower!

More orchids. I went to this room twice!

Delicate lavender blossoms

Towering foxglove

Colorful bloom

Main display hall. The fragrance was amazing!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs, Anne. I love this time of year. Spring is more advanced here, and a lot of the earlier flowers have passed by. I love Longwood Gardens but have not been for years, so thank you for letting me visit from afar. Have a wonderful weekend. Art

Thanks Art, glad you liked the photos! Yes, Longwood is beautiful year round! We are still coming into Spring flower season, daffodils and crocuses are out, some early hyacinths, but tulips haven't blossomed yet. Still mostly bare around here, but definitely seeing signs of Spring!!!

I've made a transition to a new job so I haven't put any new posts up in a while, but I'm planning to change that in about a month.
