Appalachian Trail Blue Mountain to Devil's Pulpit

Hiked the Appalachian Trail near the Lehigh River on Blue Mountain today. It was a hot and humid day for a hike. The pictures show how hazy the day was. There were a few last blueberries on the trail, and lots of grasshoppers that made a weird loud clicking noise. Eerie!!!
Met six thru hikers (and a thru hiker dog) making their way along the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.

Jacobsburg Park

Another beautiful day for a walk in the park. Saw minnows, rainbow trout, and sunfish.

Lehigh Parkway Allentown

Relaxing day at the Lehigh Parkway. Beautiful weather, beautiful sky!

Appalachian Trail Blue Mountain

Today I went on a 6 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail on Blue Mountain. Once again, it was a beautiful day. The trail was rocky, as is most of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania, but led to a breathtaking vista overlooking the Lehigh Valley.

Someday I need to get one of those really cool telephoto lenses so I can take bird pictures. Until then, this is the best I can do. Can you see the Indigo Bunting on the branch? Other wildlife activity included turkey vulture, black vulture, interesting variety of insect life, and, of course, the chipmunk.

They say every tree has a personality.....

Lackawanna State Forest and Pinchot Trail System

Had a great day hiking in the Lackawanna State Forest. Beautiful weather, slightly cooler, nice breeze. Wildlife highlights include black and white warbler, indigo bunting, goldfinch, groundhog, and evidence of bear activity (scratched trees). The fern covered trails led to a beautiful vista.
